These pages set out the overarching concepts behind our evolving development proposals for the sustainable expansion of Elsenham to a new market town.

Land under the control of the Fairfield Partnership has been endorsed by Uttlesford District Council as the Preferred Option in the Uttlesford Local Development Framework Core Strategy for a new settlement of 3,000 new homes supported by comprehensive infrastructure. The potential also exists to expand to the north to provide in excess of 5,000 new homes and this scale of growth has been endorsed by Government in its identification of Elsenham as a potential Eco-town.

Either scale of growth will provide the critical mass needed to support a comprehensive range of employment opportunities, primary and secondary schools, shops, health and other services that will benefit both new and existing residents. The pages below set out our vision for expanding Elsenham into a sustainable new market town and apply to both the larger and smaller scales of growth.
