We are committed to promoting a diverse and cohesive community that offers opportunity and an unrivalled quality of life to all age groups and abilities.
Living New homes will provide for a full range of housing needs from owner occupied to affordable housing; from single person apartments to large family housing. All homes will be within easy walking distance of shops, services and schools promoting walkable neighbourhoods and equality of access to services to all members of society.
Working A range of employment opportunities will be created providing jobs in sectors from general industry to research and development through to shops and services. Live-work units and flexible employment and conference spaces will also be promoted to maximise opportunities for living and working locally.
Learning Up to three new primary schools are envisaged including provision for pre-school education and children’s centres. A new secondary school will meet the educational needs of older children while also providing sports facilities open to the wider public that are proposed to form a community sports hub.
Well-Being Health and well-being will be promoted through provision of new health facilities. These might be co-located with other uses to allow health and other social and lifestyle initiatives to be provided. Walking and cycling along with comprehensive sports facilities will encourage physical activity in line with the objectives of Sport England’s Active Design. The Elsenham Green Ring will offer opportunities for quiet recreation and relaxation along with play and formal sport within easy access of homes.
Relaxation A thriving and active town centre will include a full range of shops and facilities alongside new homes and employment opportunities. Shops will include a food store and smaller retailers to provide a diverse offer of goods and services. Restaurants, pubs, hotels and cafes will also promote activity across the day, with community facilities including a library and multi-purpose community buildings and places of worship.
